The First LED Replacement for the 60 Watt Incandescent!

The new dimmable 12 watt EnduraLED A19 lamp is the industry's first LED replacement for the 60 watt incandescent bulb. Philips has developed an alternative to the most common lamp that offers the same soft white light and shape that we are all familiar with. Replacing a standard 60 watt lamp with the EnduraLED A19 could save a consumer up to $120 over the life of the lamp. Werner Electric is one of the few distributors nationwide that is currently stocking this lamp. Just think, if you were to use this lamp for 3 hours a day, 7 days a week it would last up to 23 years!

Please call the Werner sales team at 651.458.3701 to purchase them today and forget about replacing your bulbs until 2034!

Even in the heat of the summer, Werner Electric continued to fuel customers’ business at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, the agricultural event of the year for Wisconsin and surrounding states. At Farm Tech Days, Werner Electric wowed the 15,000 attendees per day with options to harness renewable energy and take advantage of extensive product line offerings.

Chuck Boley, Director of Construction Services at Werner Electric who attended Farm Tech Days described the event as, “Upbeat, you could really tell that for that industry it’s the main event of the year for probably a three or four state area.”

With businesses representing over 6 states, Werner Electric staffed their booth with employees equipped with the expertise to answer the full scope of customer inquiries. At the event, Randy Moberg, Chuck Boley, Tom Mastin, and Kelli Lewis discussed topics ranging from energy efficient motors to the different types of grounding equipment available to solve the stray voltage problem.

Attendees sought solutions unique to the agricultural industry. “They were looking for ideas to improve their energy efficiency, products that won’t rust or corrode in dairy barns, and there was some interest in generators as well,” Boley said.

Keeping a close tap on the pulse of the industry, Werner Electric anticipated renewable energy would be a vital theme at the 2010 Farm Tech Days. “We had an idea going in that energy-efficient lighting and motors would be key topics, and it proved to be true,” said Boley. In addition to displaying a variety of Philips lamps, Werner Electric brought Philips Lighting Specialist Kelli Lewis to address questions about sustainable lighting solutions.

Highlight this section - Werner Electric returns from the event with information that promises to open economic doors for customers looking to invest in energy efficient solutions. By utilizing Xcel Energy or WE Energies’ co-funding program, customers can install sustainable solutions at a significantly reduced cost. As a customer incentive, WE Energies pledges to pay for the first thousand dollars to cover project inspection in addition to fifty percent of the remaining balance up to a grant of 6,000 dollars if the installation meets their energy efficient requirements.

“The program offers huge savings for the farmer, the end user. On top of that they can also qualify for rebates from Focus on Energy in Wisconsin,” Boley explained. “It’s going to give them the opportunity and the funding to upgrade their equipment and become more energy efficient without such a steep out-of-pocket cost.”

A presence at Farm Tech Days allowed Werner Electric representatives a chance to discuss products and savings solutions with members of a large and diverse industry. “It was a very good venue to get our message and our capability statement out there,” said Boley. “Customers didn’t realize that we could provide generators. Certainly they didn’t think of Werner or other electrical distributors as a source for motors.”

Farm Tech Days also provided Werner Electric the opportunity to partner with Xcel Energy to create a series of classes designed to further customer learning. Looking ahead, Werner Electric and Xcel Energy will present a joint, cooperative training class showcasing energy efficient lighting as well as a follow-up class on variable frequency drives.

Farm Tech Days gave Werner Electric, the only full line electrical distributor present, a new platform to help customers expand and better business. “We heard time and time again, ‘We didn’t know you guys had motors or that you guys had locations in Eau Claire and Cottage Grove,’” Boley said. “I think it was very successful.”

Even in the midst of the dog days of summer, Werner Electric presented attendees of the 2010 Farm Technology Days refreshing opportunities to save money and increase business efficiency.

Werner Power Summit Fuels Potential

Electric potential and the potential skills and talents that individuals bring to the work place are not so different. The Werner Electric Power Summit demonstrated the deep similarities between these two types of potential. As an electric field’s potential increases, so does the amount of work it can do. In the same way, increasing individuals’ skills and technical know-how also increases the amount of work they are able to complete in a specific time frame. This learning-curve streamlines the business process. Both electric and individual potential abounded at the recent Werner Electric Power Summit.

Werner Electric hosted its first annual WE Talk Tech Power Summit on February 23 and 24. The event was designed to allow customers to gain knowledge on motor controls, energy management, and power quality through 24 technical sessions. In addition to the technical sessions, which ranged in content from power monitoring to heat management, the two-day tradeshow featured Rockwell Automation, Werner Electric and Encompass Partner products. The WE Talk Tech Power Summit also allowed customers to meet with fifteen different vendors in attendance.

Werner strove to provide a laid-back, hands-on atmosphere for customers to learn how to improve and grow their business. “There were a lot of questions with specialists and vendors [who helped] customers achieve their maximum potential from this training seminar,” said Nycole Gauger, marketing coordinator for Werner Electric.

The first annual Werner Electric Power Summit not only instructed customers on techniques to help streamline business process but also ‘fueled’ supplier partnerships. “The Power Summit was an excellent way to show our customers that not only is Werner Electric a technical power house using Rockwell Automation products, but our relationships with Encompass Partner and support product lines that compliment and further drive the Rockwell line are significantly great as well,” said Gauger. “Through the Power Summit Werner showed that we can be the customers’ competitive advantage from all product offerings and solutions.”

Supplier Paul Jacobs of AJB Sale Agency also remembers the partnerships built at the event, “I believe [the Power Summit] strengthened our relationships with Werner's sales and management people by inviting me to spend quality time to display and discuss my products.”

Werner strove to provide a networking and educational opportunity for customers, who might otherwise be unable to attend Rockwell’s training events, a chance to benefit from the same exchange of knowledge. As a result, suppliers, Werner, and customers reaped the benefits. “For Suppliers and Werner, having our customers in to train and ask questions about upcoming projects and applications in their own jobs makes the event a great success,” said Gauger. “For the customer, it is a convenience to have this type of seminar locally and be able to attend the classes and labs for free.”

Looking into 2011, Werner Electric plans to host a sequel to the Power Summit to expand upon featured product offerings and update available technology. “We are also looking at taking it to the next level and offer CEU classes next time as well,” Gauger disclosed.

After two successful days and over 210 customers reached, Werner Electric hits the off-switch on another premier WE Talk Tech event. Gauger surmises, “The Power Summit further enhances our competitive advantage mission statement and demonstrates how we are striving to provide the best support and service to our customers.” Mission accomplished.

Phase Out of DOE Regulated Electromagnetic Fluorescent Ballasts

March 12, 2010

Phase Out of DOE Regulated Electromagnetic Fluorescent Ballasts

Dear Valued Customer:

Effective July 1, 2010, the US Department of Energy will ban the manufacture and importation of certain T12 electromagnetic ballasts. Specifically, these are the 1-lamp and 2-lamp F40T12 ballasts and 2-lamp F96T12 Slimline ballasts. These ballasts were banned for use in new luminaires in 2005, and have only been available for replacement purposes since then. Fortunately electronic versions are available which are more efficient, quieter and in most instances, similarly priced. A conversion table of electromagnetic to electronic Philips Advance ballasts is attached.

Please note that this legislation is limited to these specific ballasts and Philips Lighting Electronics will continue to offer other non-regulated “Advance” branded electromagnetic fluorescent ballasts as long as they are financially viable.
In order to have an orderly phase out of these electromagnetic ballasts, Philips Lighting Electronics will adhere to the following schedule.

April 1, 2010 – Orders received after this date will be considered non-cancellable.
May 1, 2010 – Last day for orders which will be filled regardless of size. Orders received after this date will be filled from stock on a first-come, first-serve basis, with no guaranty of availability/delivery.
June 30, 2010 – Last day for manufacture/import of affected products. This does not prevent Philips Lighting Electronics or their customers from selling product from inventory.

We are not encouraging customers to increase inventories on these items as the deadline approaches. Nor are there plans to for Philips Lighting Electronics to have significant inventories after the June 30th deadline. The overwhelming adoption of the electronic versions has indicated that such actions are not warranted.

As this era comes to an end, we would like to thank the many customers that have purchased these high volume electromagnetic items over the years. We look forward to meeting your needs with electronic products that are better in every way. If you have any questions regarding this transition, please contact your Philips Advance ballast sales representative.

Sincerely,

Werner and the Saints: A Dual-Action Approach

“Take me out to the Saints game; take me to Werner’s Event. Give me some burgers and Cracker Jack; I don’t care if I ever get back.” And so on June 10 with the implied chorus of Werner’s adaptation to the ball-game favorite, employees celebrated their customers at the much anticipated summer event complete with a cook-out and a chance to watch a Saint Paul Saints game.

Team Werner donned its traditional white and blue pin-strip company uniforms, and awaited the “pre-game huddle” or the mingling of employees with customers. Team spirit pulsed palpably while the tantalizing odor of burgers and brats drew customers ever closer. Frisbee and bean bag toss between customers and employees strengthened the familial bond Werner strives to create. Werner hit a homerun this year serving record numbers of customers and employees the pre-game dinner of baseball staples: burgers, brats, beans, chips, cookies, and a keg of Frost’s root beer.

A comedic Saints Game, which customers watched courtesy of Werner Electric, followed dinner. The Saint Paul Saints, a member of the American Association, is not an ordinary ball team. The Saints combine “the All-American pastime” with an ever-flowing supply of comedic antics sure to keep even the most passive baseball fans on the edge of their bucket seats. In an average Saints game, the famed Sus scrofa domestica, or pig mascot, hailed as “Mudonna” entertains the crowd to hilarity with her tail-twirling antics. “Slumhog Millionaire,” a recent addition, to the Saints team has begun extensive mascot training and hopes to delight fans soon. Besides the lively sideline entertainers, the familiar organ sequence “Charge” instigates fans to cheer on players or fellow audience members who have been called to the field to compete in a variety of “competitive events.” One such event includes a fan being velcro-ed to the outfield in hopes of catching a fly ball and winning the coveted prize.

Just as the Saint Paul Saints combine glee with the game, Werner has a similar dual-action approach to customer service with the guaranteed prize of premier products complimented with value-added service.

After ending one of Werner’s most enjoyed customer appreciation events of the summer, customers and their families departed with stomachs full of tailgate goodies and sore from laughing at the Saints’ frivolity. Employees hit a homerun with this year’s event and left humming Werner’s rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Team Werner hits it out of the park…again!
